Seems like there’s at least three ways to do this section: taking Highway 1A, which I always try to avoid. There’s the coastal road called Thanh Nien on Google Maps which is pretty nice. The road isn’t fantastic but the sights are good. It’s slow but enjoyable. Still, I’d say the best way is crossing the new Cua Dai Bridge out of Hoi An and bombing down that brand-new road. It dead ends just outside Tam Ky, where you can go see the biggest statue in Vietnam and/or the Tam Thanh Art Village. From there, head out to the beach and go south till the road dead-ends at a ferry, which takes you onto the Kangaroo-shaped island called Tam Hai. You may be tempted to hop onto Highway 1 and finish the trip, but you’ll be rewarded with much nicer views by going out toward the Dung Quat Refinery and coming into Quang Ngai on QL24B.

Which way did you take and how was it?
